We are proud to announce that our partner Shiseido has won the Top Award at IFSCC Conference 2021 in Cancún for their presentation entitled; “Skin beauty with gentle-touch-receptor Merkel cells—Restore your sense with a pleasant scent.”
In this interesting collaborative work between Shiseido Ltd. and Monasterium Laboratory GmbH, we found that skin cells responsible for touch sensation, i.e. Merkel cells, can be activated in a similar manner also by a synthetic odorant. Given that these cells are responsible for skin homeostasis, these results highlight new opportunities to improve skin health with cosmetic compounds.
